What is CBD?

CBD 101. What is CBD & CBD Oil?

CBD is an abbreviation of Cannabidiol. It is the second most common compound found in the Cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive so it will not get you high. For many years breeders of new strains have concentrated on producing higher levels of THC while sacrificing CBD with most strains testing under 1%. While any strain with more than 4% CBD will be considered high in CBD, I have strains that have tested over 17% THC with less than 1% CBD as well as strains with both THC and CBD testing at 8% which are great for treating cancer and many other conditions. (THC products are available for Colorado residents and those travelling to Colorado)

CBD has been shown to:

• Reduce pain and inflammation.
• Act as an anti-spasmodic and has proven very effective in greatly reducing or completely eliminating seizures in epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
• Aid indigestion.
• Reduce nausea.
• Have anti-bacterial properties.
• Reduce depression and anxiety and has been getting attention for reducing symptoms of PTSD.

CBD’s benefits for other diseases include:

• reducing symptoms associated with Crohn’s and Irritable Bowel Syndrome by smoothing the lining of the intestinal wall
• Reducing diabetic symptoms
• Reducing itching associated with psoriasis
• Stimulating bone growth
• Reducing neuropathic pain
• Reducing the risk of artery blockage
• Inhibiting tumor cell growth
• Reduce the inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis
• Reduce the symptoms of lupus by stimulating the immune system.

Exciting new studies have shown promise using CBD in preventing the onset of Alzheimer’s as well as slowing the development of plaque in the brain.

I will make a bold prediction that in the years to come a 20mg daily dose of CBD will be considered a standard nutritional supplement for the prevention of cancer, Alzheimer’s and overall health.
